(or where to come if you are feeling bad about your drawing talent) So I saw this idea over at Nano, and thought that it was nice and figured I would try to do the 100 sketches in 100 days. Being more of a Wrimo than a... Drawmo(?), I thought I would try out some roleplaying adventures by building characters and running them through, drawing characters and/or scenes for this when I don't have a better idea and writing on the subject of the drawing. I figure that this will make me more likely to keep at it on both sides. For those wanting to use it (for whatever reason) - let me know, and I'll probably be okay with it. So, in that spirit, the (currently unnamed) first character- (text to come when character sheet is fully finished) Attachments:

First of all, welcome! We're really glad you decided to join us! Secondly, very nice sketch! There's definitely a unique character vibe to it. And thirdly, I love your idea of combining writing and drawing. I have a feeling that a lot of people (myself included) might be interested in doing something like that at some point in the future, as a good many (but not all) of us are WriMos. I'm excited to see more of your character sketches and learn more about them!

Thanks for all the welcomes and compliments. I don't know if it's the pressures of showing off the pictures or just looking at how everyone here draws, but these seem to be some of my best sketches ever. With that said, I went ahead and added a collar and eyebrows to the first sketch. He is now named (Zachery) and thanks to getting a character sheet program, his game stats are finished up, which means I can write his information. On the pose - I had that in mind but was not sure I could quite get it across. As it is, I have no clue what he is sitting on or in front of. I did not get the next character done, so instead, today's drawing is of Zachery's older sister, who raised him. Attachments:

For once, I actually had the character name BEFORE drawing the character! And it turns out to be the kid in a family of three (all of whom are characters, and so will need to stat the parents before finalizing their story). Note here that names are semi-randomly determined until I find one that I like. So, here is Clinton Uranga. I really like parts of this picture, but the nose and mouth took a while. I was going for a look of surprise/plesant shock, but the open mouth just looks weird to me. At this point, any adjustments will likely make it worse. The personality is fairly set, though - Clinton is a friendly twelve year old boy with a combination of insatiable curiosity and recklessness. Fortunately, he has a surprising resilience that make him able to ignore situations that would frighten any parent and for much longer than most can manage. He is a fan of Zachery Blatter (the first character), who is a very talented musician known for releasing his songs for free, relying on donations and merchandise to make money to live on. Although Clinton is unaware of it, and Zachery rarely says anything anyway - it is not going well (he's getting by and able to keep his site, but beyond that, he is quite limited). Attachments:

I love that you have stories on all the characters you're drawing! I would offer tips on drawing mouths, but I am awful at mouths. So instead, I'll just lurk on this thread and hope someone else offers tips ^_^

Alright, so I fell a little behind on sketches, let alone the stories. So I should have two ready today. Well, I have one right now, but the character sheets are done on five of the six 'PCs' (I say that with the '' because it's all played by me, but they are the characters in those roles). The last one is Clinton's dad, so I'll wait to draw his mom until the dad is ready as well. I feel I should note how I'm drawing/uploading pictures for this one. First, I am actually using actors as references (I figure that if you can tell who they are, either you're amazing at this game or I have made amazing progress in drawing ability). Then I use a mechanical pencil to draw on a notecard. I use my phone to take a picture and use an image editor to resize it to 80% of the size (so that it is able to be attached to the post). The first thing to know about Geoffrey Terronez is this - he does not exist. His birth in 1969 went unrecorded, and since then he's operated through people and various systems of bartering. Ron Lamberto, however, has just the information to not be suspicious. Combined with a talent for people, Ron avoids most questions as long as he avoids doing very stupid things and gets arrested. I can definitely see that you have put a lot and effort into your characters ^_^ keep up the good work on that.
I really like the way you do poses, they just look so natural.

Okay, can I just say I *love* this most recent one?!? His clothes are so naturally flowing, and his nose and mouth are really good. Very realistic, full-of-character sketch. Awesome job!

Thanks for that. Admittedly, the picture I'm using seems to help with that. Zachery, I had the pose in my head and a 3/4 image of his head to work off of. His sister, I went of one with the face tilted and the body turned slightly. Clinton was the same general pose with a closed mouth. Used a second picture of a kid with an open mouth and tried to combine them. Geoffrey/Ron was actually the same pose, so a lot of the credit goes to the actor and photographer (who I don't know who it was). On the other hand, I did do the drawing and sometimes you need to take pride in what you've done. Going on from there, we have the next character. While Geoffrey (among other things) lives off the grid and with much older technology than most of us are used to, Lessie Carp lives on the cutting edge. Writing a tech blog with occassional jumps into other topics, Lessie has developed a decent following over the past few years. One of her early posts was an interview with a musician who was just starting to come to people's attention for his odd thoughts on music availability - Zachery Blatter. Her article was posted about the same time his popularity exploded, so they are often mentioned together, but some newer fans of either have managed to avoid the other. Hopefully I can get the Uranga parents drawn and posted tomorrow. Attachments:

Making progress on getting back to one per day. Some of these events may be retconned - but I had found some history generators and got some interesting results. This is Dr. Roselee Uranga, Clinton's stepmother. After a few birthdays that flirted with disaster (rare, venomous spiders infesting their home the day after she was born; almost jumping from a moving car in a thunderstorm - spiralling out to kill two people), she was not a fan of celebrating the day. At 15, she took a train to her aunts' house (claiming that the house was haunted). It derailed, and she showed up nine months later, surprisingly well if a little malnourished. Shortly after, her parents decided to move away from the wilds of New Zealand. She proceeded to become a Doctor, her colleagues quickly learning that almost nothing seemed to be able to shake her. After some time, she met a divorced soldier. They married after he home and settled down in Northern Idaho. Attachments:

Your characters have so much life. They each look unique. :-) I really like how you have a detailed background on all of them!

Thanks! (I know, I really should reply to some of the other topics) I've been combining details that I want with some randomized events in order to surprise myself and see what works together) Okay, so I had this done yesterday, but I guess I forgot to put it up- Private First Class Sidney Uranga's story begins well before his birth, with his mother's boyfriend, around 1941. The man was thirteen years older than her and from China. The pair managed to be competitive due to a mutual attraction until finally breaking the tension. He was called to military service, however and was involved in a major accident. Official reports state that the weather was awful and was the main reason for the fourteen deaths. In addition, he suffered major injuries, which resulted in (among other things), his blindness and a lingering pain in his throat. Until the day that he died, however, he claimed to hear supernatural creatures around him. Although she rarely mentioned it, Sidney's mother was strongly affected by it and it was a public secret that he left his money to her. Meanwhile, his father is traveling the world as an occult investigator for the FBI after witnessing an assassination. Eventually, they met each other, raising a family. Their pasts clashed and caught up with them in time to be called in to secretly help out in 1968 in Peru. Six years later, Sidney was born in the home of a Peruvian family. He was raised bilingual and eventually managed to move to the US, where he served in the army until he lost a hand and even had a child in 2000. (This is where I realize that Clinton was born in 2000 +/- 1 year and has 'A Tragedy Occur' at age 2 plus 'Mother was horribly injured once' as a seperate detail; I didn't want to have Sidney be a widower, but...) For the next few years, Sidney devoted himself to raising his son, Clinton Uranga, and they became close friends. One day, he met a doctor from New Zealand and hit it off. The three got along well and moved to Northern Idaho in 2011. Attachments:
